The only thing I'd add, is it should tell you your score at the Game Over screen.
Haven't played yet, but one first remark. It might be me, but fullscreen doesn't really work like this. You turn it on in the options, but then you have to press ESC to go out of the options, which also makes you escape from fullscreen.
use space bar to select the quit option, dont use escape, though that is definitely an oversight

I really like the sprites and the music!
The gameplay is simple, but it takes time to learn how to move and attack/defend effectively!
It would be great if the player's best score is shown on the title screen.
